I agree. Thats one thing i really have a gripe with in the original MGS. However, i cant imagine how they would lengthen it any further, everything is resolved, and in my opinion it had good pacing.
On the other hand, i found MGS3 to be a lot longer. The first play through took me over 20 hours, and i didnt get all the items and camouflage. Considering there are 4 alternate endings and a variety of different ways through the game, i found myself clocking around 50-60 hours to see all the various cut-scenes (including the strip-tease XD). Theres a lot more replay value, and its longer; however i prefered the original MGS story for being a little more realistic.

That's it! perhaps, it took me 16 hours to end CSOTN, and i found it very good while it lasted, and also, it has a replay value.
But Metal Gear is just too short, it leaves you wanting more, even with the replay value...
By the way... how do you get the cloaking device?

Ah, this is where the replay value of MGS comes in. There are two endings. One if you survive the torture, the other if you dont.
I dont know whether you gave in or not, but if you do the opposite on your second play-through, you should get stealth, and the alternate ending.

Okay... i endured it (using a dirty trick of the emulator... to press much more times the circle and get more life, i slowed down the emulation speed XD)
There are also a lot more of extras in Metal Gear Solid... I wonder... the modes in which you could "examine" Mei Ling and Naomi are in the Metal Gear SOlid game, or in the VR missions expanded disk?

You could examine them, as well as play as the Ninja in Special missions. The add-on is ideal if you wanted more of a "gaming" experience from MGS. Im not sure if you'll be able to play it through an emulator though, since it requires swapping with the original MGS.

Mmmm.... i don't think there is really any trouble emulation even emulates the disk swapping thing.

I'm becoming immersed in "Way of the Samurai 2" all over again (I haven't played it for about a year). It is incredibly fun.

Ive got a lot of games to be getting on with, so i probably wont be able to play WotS2 for a while (although it would arguably be good to play at the same time). Currently i have Xenosaga and Resident Evil 4 on my plate.
